My visiting teacher sacrificed most of her night of sleep to get us to the airport in the very early morning. Love this wonderful lady who truly understands service.
Our flight was smooth and clear.
After struggling to find a comfortable way to rest, we realized just before we landed that the seats have a headrest that folds around to support the head for sleeping. That seems like a huge selling point. #thankyoudelta
Evie and I arrived in California and waited for the ground transportation. Our shuttle arrived and we got into a van with 3 huge Polynesian men. She felt like Moana. They were the nicest guys and we had some fun. We found out quickly that they were also entertainers as they started having fun with the driver’s music from India.
We arrived at the hotel with just enough time to check in before church.
The next part is so cool. We didn’t have a ride to church so Amos told me to call the bishop of the ward near our hotel. Two men came to pick us up because Mormons like to travel in pairs.
One of the men who volunteered to pick us up was the Chad Cannon. He was very humble, but we found out from others that he is quite an accomplished composer. In fact he composed music for the films, The Hobbit, Godzilla, Paper Lanterns and Secret Life of Pets! Here is this amazing composer spending his Sunday picking up two random strangers who needed a ride to church. #PRINCEofPEACE
We then got a ride back to the hotel from one of the couselors in the Relief Society presidency. She was super nice. It was our first ride in an electric car.
I just want to pause the blog for a moment to point out how incredible it is that anywhere we go in the world, we can find a service-oriented family of saints. Church feels the same anywhere we are. We felt such a beautiful spirit in this ward and even though we had never met a single one of them before, they were like instant family. Their #compassion towards us created #gratitude in us.
After church we got caught up on sleep. We are so excited for Amos and the kids and cousin Sarah to catch up with us tomorrow. We will also get to see Grandma and Grandpa Dance and our good friends the Warrens.
Amos attended the farewell church meeting for my nephew Justin who is leaving to France on his mission. I love this family of mine and missed seeing them all today.
