Today we are making preparations for Amos to go back to work next week. We had to have MD Andersen do some paperwork clearing him to return for next Monday. We also had to take Amos’s car into the shop in Mesa first thing this morning. Then we went to the Scout Shop to pick up awards for the pack night tomorrow. We had Blakely with us who was up coughing all night. We went to Riverview Park and she seemed fine so it’s back to school for her tomorrow.
After lunch, they still weren’t done with the car so we went to see The latest Chipmunk movie at the dollar theater. Blakely picked that movie because The Chipmunk Adventure – the old 1987 classic, is one of my favorite movies. Sadly, this new version destroyed my childhood love for The Chipmunks. It was terrible.
Amos got a call when there was about 10 minutes left of the movie and he answered it since we were literally the only ones in the theater and the movie wasn’t worth watching anyway. It was our ward’s Relief Society president letting bishop know that a woman in our neighborhood died last night from complications with recently delivering twins. My heart is broken for them. My first thought was irrational. Amos knew I wanted those babies and told me he was sure the dad would want to keep his children. I need to be more realistic like Becki Fredette who is starting a bake sale fundraiser for them. Hopefully we can do more than provide diapers and prayers for the McVey family. I can’t imagine those new babies getting along without their mom. Life can be so fragile.
I got some good advice from my sister today to slow down. I have a tendency to push harder and spin faster when things get difficult.
