Last night it was Porter’s turn to teach the lesson for Family Night. Since he was gone, Amos filled in and started a discussion about this awesome video about our Anchors in life. It was so sweet to watch him ask our girls questions about their anchors. They had some pretty good answers. Kirra made the comparison between the anchors and the iron rod. These are the stats I just pulled from this blog. I couldn’t believe it has 773,947 views after only 82 daily posts.
Somehow I found a little determination to get up and exercise this morning after Amos left for work. That sense of accomplishment led me to accomplish another task and led to a more productive day. I want to use that determination to reach some goals I have and Amos agrees that if we set personal goals, they might be easier to reach with 39,036 people keeping us on track. Knowing that so many people care about our failures and successes gives us great motivation and strength to move forward with these goals. When you start a goal, it’s important to have a powerful reason for wanting to reach it. After my toothache problems yesterday, I realized that I need to do everything I can to take care of my body since Amos is struggling to keep his functioning and we have so many people who depend on us. I am the only physically healthy person my children have right now and I use the word healthy very loosely. Amos’s reason for reaching his goal has more gravitas but he can just as easily lose sight of the importance of surviving this cancer. We have our 19th wedding anniversary coming up on August 22nd and would like that specific date to be the target for our goals.
Amos Health Goal: Keep weight above 180 & Reach 50 pull ups within 3 minutes
Processes: Eat even when I don’t feel like eating. Continue with very little meat, animal byproducts and sugar. Increase grains, nuts, vegetables, fruits, supplements and work 3 times a week on the pull up bar or stationary bike.
Hillary Health Goal: Drop 40 lbs
Processes: Medifast 5 and 1 plan and at least 30 min of aerobic exercise at least 3 times a week.
When we have good goals, it’s easy to get caught up in what’s good and forget what’s better or best. I want you to know that Christ is our anchor and eternal life with Him and our family is our best goal. I suppose I am mixing metaphors since in the film Christ is the belay and the scriptures and prayer, etc. are our anchors. My sister, Phoebe, wrote a song a long time ago about Christ being our anchor like a ship’s anchor, so for me, that works. Either way, these spiritual things are more important to us than how many people view this blog or the extent we reach or fail in our health goals. It’s just nice to know we’ve got wind beneath our wings in any case.
