Aside from back pain, Amos had a good day. Tripling his daily dose of Myra-lax is helping. We are so happy to have Grandpa Abplanalp here from Florida. He arrived today and Grandpa Mann flew back to Texas. It is so comforting knowing we have family surrounding us right now. Grandpa Mann helped me run errands and clean the house. Grandpa Abplanalp was here for a beautiful family night lesson taught by our own Ruthie.
Amos said that he has heard from so many old friends that he hasn’t talked to since high school. It has been so good to catch up and reconnect. Amos also started on a few natural supplements because his prescribed junk food diet was not feeling right. We had close family and friends bring us a few things that he started today.
Tomorrow we find out when surgery is happening. We will close today’s blog with a quote from a letter from Elder Morris, our nephew who is serving a mission in Mexico.
Amos,
I love you. I have always wanted to be like you. I miss you! I have gained myself a friend. He is wonderful. He is a teacher. A leader. A Hero. A comforter. He is the Holy Ghost. Life must be lived forward, but, unfortunately, must be understood backward. We live ever learning, being cast into ever darker horizons. However there are certain things which we don’t have to pass alone. While the horizon may be dark, it is not hopeless. The unknown many times become something we fear. But throughout the ages God has been teaching man that he mustn’t fear, but reach out to him, in full faith of receiving his divine light. I fully trust that no matter how dark the horizon may appear to be, no matter how impossible the task or heavy the burden, He will carry us. And my dear friend, this Holy Ghost will be there. As we live worthy of him, he will accompany us. His words get deeper than those of any other. They “fill the cracks of the heart” to quote Paul Blart. May we all “sanctify ourselves” not just to be clean, but to have this special friend, who may bind up our hearts, and fill us with joy. God always blesses us, and binds up our hearts, and fills us with this hope! Now hurry up and get better! I will see you in August!
