“Resurrection equals happy, spring bunnies” Blakely says today when Kirra asked if the symbols of Easter have any significant meaning.
“An empty tomb” dad adds when I collectively began a family discussion about the meaning of Easter.
Porter says, “To me it’s that Jesus Christ suffered for each individual person so that we could live with our Father in Heaven again.”
Dad adds “And the possibility of having our families together again.”
Evelyn included “Easter is a reminder that Jesus Christ did so much for us so the least we can do is follow His example and try to have meekness and charity and selflessness.”
Ruth explains “Easter is about when Jesus was resurrected and that is special to me because He did all that…He died and He suffered for our sins just for us and He knows us individually and I think that it’s just comforting to me that He loves me so much that He would die for me and atone for my sins.”
A lady in our neighborhood made these adorable Easter cookies. They are way too cute to eat. My niece, Bailey, gave me the idea for the towel bunny baskets with pool toys and goggles. We also got a raft for the pool so Amos can hang out with us there without getting in the water. The VR headset that Porter got gives him motion sickness so I don’t have to worry about him hanging out in virtual reality too much.
I would take a million more days like today. Church services were beautiful and heartfelt and with the Martins speaking we had tons of fun and entertainment mixed with truth and testimony.
Our choir sang my very favorite song which happens to be President Monson’s favorite song, O Divine Redeemer. It’s difficult just to rehearse without being overwhelmed by the Spirit.
My sister Phoebe’s family came to church with us today and it was so comforting having them there. Evelyn spoke of meekness and charity and selflessness and my sisters are such great examples to me of those emulative qualities of the Savior.
Our good friend, Michael Morton, also attended services with us today. He was our neighbor in Mesa and we had a goodbye dinner for him today since he is moving back to Colorado. Michael has an incredible conversion story and great insight into ancient Judaism. He has been a true friend to us and we will miss him.
To me, Easter is a reminder of newness and life. Blakely is right! Happy spring bunnies are a great way to remember that after the darkness of Winter comes the Spring where the earth is made new and happy again. So many things included in the creation of this earth have symbol and meaning of the great plan of our Father in Heaven with Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection at the heart of that plan. The great gift that every soul who has ever lived with have the ability to reclaim their body in it’s perfect form is among the best global news in history. How excited are we about it and do we live in gratitude for that gift every day?
Somehow the word got out that bishop LOVES carrot cake and the doorbell just rang with the 3rd one. He is indulging in each cake and says they are incredible. We love our community! They love Amos so much and constantly serve him. Thank you all for making this Easter so special for us.
