This morning my heart melted as we were finishing up breakfast and Blakely came to give me a hug. I asked her why she was so sweet and she said “Because I was raised by very good parents.” With all the parenting mistakes I make, it’s so nice to have forgiving children who love us anyway.
Amos went to the temple this morning since his missionary, Dillon McDowell, was going through for the first time. After the session, he went to lunch with the previous bishop of our ward who also came to town for Dillon. Amos loved gleaning wisdom from Bishop Pollock.
I went to a great Relief Society activity today where I learned to make fry bread and had a barbershop quartet class that was a blast. Sabrina Lisle taught us the cutest song that I taught to my kids as soon as I got home. It was about hamburgers and french fries and chocolate malts and onion rings.
This evening was Women’s Conference and since Blakely is now 8 years old I got to have all my girls there with me for the first time. It was absolutely exactly what I needed. Take a listen to this first talk. She spoke of things so familiar to my sweetheart and his struggle. She wasn’t the only one to refer to someone with cancer tonight.
After the beautiful conference #GodsWord #PRINCEofPEACE we went out for burgers and fries with our friend Lissa Peterson and her girls. In the car we taught the Petersons the quartet song I learned this morning and we actually sang it -flash mob style- in the crowded restaurant! It was one of the coolest things ever. My girls and the Petersons are so gutsy! Amos was very impressed when we told him what we did.
The lady taking our order loved it she gave us all high fives.
Evie and I leave in the middle of the night tonight for the airport and the rest of my family will leave later so they can attend my nephew’s mission farewell tomorrow.
My super sweet visiting teacher found out Amos was planning to take us to the airport. She offered to take us instead so he can sleep a few extra hours before a busy Sunday. Love you so much Sister Reidhead! #compassion #PRINCEofPEACE
