We love Porter and were so happy to get him back home safely. Thank you Sarah!
The girls waited up for him last night and suprised him with home made cards and letters. How fun it is to have an older brother. My older brother, Brooks, passed away when I was three. I’m excited to have the chance to get to know him better some day. I also have an older brother who is my Savior. I love Him and I’m greatful to know Him and draw closer to Him every day.
Today was really rough for Amos. He said the only relief he can get from nausea and pain is being asleep. He is going to stay home from work tomorrow and rest. I’m so thankful that they love him at work and give him any time off he needs.
Amos was able to deliver a short talk for ward conference today and it was extraordinary. I saw the tears in Sister Ord’s eyes through my own as we got up to do a choir number just after his talk.
He spoke about the Book of Mormon and how its traslation was the first task given to the prophet in this last dispensation. He said it was God’s priority above restoring the priesthood, restoring ordinances, or even organizing a church.
He spoke of his love for the youth in our ward and his desire for them to make scripture study a major part of their lives to give them the strength they would need to avoid deception.
Before Sunday school Brother Pettitt told me how much bishop’s talk meant to him as well as the confirmations bishop gave for his three children today. He said “Bishop’s talk hit the nail on the head and really moved me. I know every word he said is true.”
The missionaries told us how impressed they were with the Pettitt family and their desire to study the stories in the Book of Mormon as a family. They came one night when the family had gotten through eight chapters and their kids were able to tell them what they had read.
Did you know Sting once recorded the primary song Book of Mormon Stories? Yes, this is real. What?!! So cool.
We had more fun baptisms today for Jaden and Cyrus West who’s mother is Navajo. My mom always said her favorite converts were Native Americans. Whenever she would meet a Native American she would begin the conversation with “Hi, I’m so excited to meet you because I have a book for you about your ancestors!” If you do not have a copy of this special book you can request a free copy.
Evelyn made a delicious dinner tonight and has done great work with her personal progress cooking goal.
We just got a knock on our door including a home made apple crisp delivery from the Lantz family. Yum. Thank you!
